As GEARS, we are a dedicated Zambian think tank working to build a nation where every citizen is empowered to defend, protect, and promote our shared governance processes111. Since 2016, we have been working in all ten provinces of Zambia, advocating for democracy, human rights, and good governance.

What We Do

We focus on advocacy, research, election monitoring, and civic education to promote good governance, constitutionalism, and the rule of law in Zambia. We are a non-partisan, “Not-for-Profit” organization committed to building a more transparent and accountable future for all Zambians.

Our Key Focus Areas

Our work is built on four core pillars that address Zambia’s most pressing challenges:

Democratic Governance

We work to ensure electoral integrity, fight corruption, and strengthen local governance by promoting citizen participation and decentralization.

Human Rights & Access to Justice

We champion human rights for all, with a special focus on gender equality, freedom of expression, and ensuring marginalized groups can access justice.

Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability

We help build climate resilience for rural communities, promote sustainable agriculture, and advocate for green policies like renewable energy and waste management.

Resource Governance

We advocate for transparency in Zambia's mining, oil, and gas sectors and fight for the equitable sharing of benefits from our natural resources.
